How to fail in MLM marketing

Friday 29 June 2007 @ 10:44 am

A few problems that some new MLM marketing people have:

1. No upline support.

Once a person joins a new MLM marketing program, he or she is vulnerable and needs a lot of help from something or someone.

In many cases, the uplines are not actively helping them. This happens a lot when the uplines are simply sponsoring as many people as they can with no regard to what happens to them after they get sponsored.

In most standard MLM marketing programs, it is important that the new person gets immediate assistance from a local person, or tools that you have. Otherwise their chances for survival are very slim.

2. New MLM marketers cannot sell.

This is probably the major reason most people do not make it MLM marketing. By using standard MLM techniques, you have got to sell and learn how to speak at opportunity meetings and the like.

3. MLM’er cannot generate good leads.

Next to the selling problem, this has to be the next biggest reason most people fail in MLM marketing.

Here is a picture of what normally happens. The new person has just signed up in an exciting MLM program. He is taught by the manuals, meetings and so forth, how he should “share” his product with his friends, neighbors and relatives.

Normally, he is not comfortable with this, and if he is typical, he will have many sleepless, tossing and turning nights. He just doesn’t want to “impose” on his friends! He would feel a lot more comfortable just presenting his opportunity to strangers.

4. No true duplicative system.

If the MLM marketing company must be promoted through expensive methods, this is not feasible.
Learning how to sell, or to speak and conduct an opportunity meeting is just not duplicative. Only a few people can do this. Here again, is a very important reason a lot of would be MLM’ers die on the vine.

5. Selling by mail using standard MLM techniques.

Traditional way to marketing MLM is to spend all spare time to call around and travel around to get prospects. A lot of people already have full time job, it is hard to find extra time to travel and make phone calls. This is why these MLM marketers cannot keep their program going.

6. The marketer is not sure about the MLM marketing company or service.

Often a person will sign up in a MLM marketing program in a “fit of excitement.” After the dust clears, he comes down to earth and reality slowly sets in.

Pick an established and financially sound MLM company that is at least two years old with unquestionable products or services. That way, you can feel good about the company and products that you are promoting. There is nothing quite like being able to “tell the complete truth” to your prospective customers.

7. They do not stick with it long enough.

Starting any company takes time, and this is true with an MLM marketing program as well.
By the time you study the program, write and receive literature: study this and sign up; get the literature, etc. a lot of time has been spent. And then you have to generate your leads and so on.

It will take several months before you can expect much of anything to happen to your MLM marketing. You should set in your mind that you are going to stick with this for at least sometime. That just makes good business sense.

The Real Truth about - “How to Make Money on the Internet.”

Monday 28 May 2007 @ 5:16 pm

by: Michael A Fowler, M.B.A.

You know… for a few years even I doubted that network marketing was a real business…

Sure, I read about how to make money at home and how easy it was to make money online.

Burning the candle at both ends…

listening to seminars that told me all about residual income, how to achieve the status of “network marketing professional”, reading e-books that told me how great life is at the top…

But – Hey… Hold On! How do you get there?

I’ve joined a business but my upline doesn’t respond to my questions… the company are ‘brain dead’ and I don’t know what I am doing exactly…

Is that how people make money on the Internet? Is that any way to start off in network marketing? Will that keep me in the business? It certainly did not.

Then along came another business and a support team that I never even contemplated could exist anywhere on the Internet. That was many years ago…

If I ever had any advice to pass on to people who are considering network marketing as a profession, then it would be to take a good look at what support is available, before even thinking about making money online.

Next, have a look at how the company is structured. Don’t ever sign up for anything until you have checked it out very thoroughly. How ‘open to scrutiny’ is the business you are considering? If there are any conditions before you have a look, run for cover and take your money with you!

Now… back to the subject. Is the ability to make money online for real?

Yes, it is. I would ask anyone to dispute that fact. So many are disgruntled by their failure in network marketing but how many actually stood the test of time and worked at it as hard as they would with a boss standing over them?

How many worked the same hours as they would in a job?

I can honestly tell you that not many do the above and most have higher “Online” expectations than the network marketing company can deliver, or the average person can hope to accomplish.

Building a downline is not easy but can be achieved with the right people duplicating your process and getting the right online support.

Network Marketing is the only way to produce a lasting residual income. To make money at home, without having to find the funds that would normally be required to pay you a similar amount each month from a large investment.

Why do people give up this ‘retirement plan’ so easily? Why do people work 40 plus hours a week just to pay the bills and yet do nothing to make money on the Internet and build a residual income for themselves?

Why is a process that takes 40 years to accomplish considered a ‘better alternative’ than a network marketing plan that can accomplish this task within 4-5 years, with a similar amount of work?

Yes, there are ‘scoundrel companies’ out there. That is why ‘due diligence’ is so important. How many people actually do any? Then they wonder why they are failing at it…

Would you buy something from someone that you couldn’t see, couldn’t talk to and had no visible representation, no credibility and no experience in what they were doing or trying to sell you? No, you wouldn’t, yet it happens on the Internet every day!

Yes, network marketing is a real business and you can make money on the Internet. It produces real full-time residual incomes for thousands of people worldwide but you must choose the right business with the right people and take the time to build your dream of Financial Freedom.

Every time you think of quitting, stop and look at the alternatives…

All people see, is what it is costing them. Does that ever amount into what you would pay for a franchise or alternative business? No, it does not. Whatever you may think of network marketing, it is still the only way that the ‘small guy’ can achieve financial freedom and success.

Millions of people are making their money from home. Do they need expensive premises and huge overheads? No, they make money online, on the Internet, working at home.

Why All Your Marketing Efforts Have Come To Nothing

Saturday 19 May 2007 @ 10:22 pm

by: Mal Keenan

How often have you responded to email from those in your downlines asking for advice on how best to run their online businesses and finding it increasingly frustrating that things JUST aren’t working out as planned?

I myself see the same problems day and daily and it always point back to the same core issues. Let me explain one of them…

The very ethos of network marketing is based on sharing the products and services that you have found helpful in your journey towards success. The fact that you get paid for this is definitely a BIG bonus but networking can be found in everyday examples where people aren’t being paid. For instance when people see a great movie, they tell others who in turn pass it on to create a blockbuster hit.

Word of mouth definitely is the best form of advertising and networking. The main point in the above example is that folks are being honest about their observations and this is picked up on by their fellows and so and and so forth down the line.

The problem with many network marketers is that they ARE NOT being honest in their dealings with online prospects. Their emails or telephone conversations are promoting something that they don’t really believe in and this belief is being transferred to the people they are trying to recruit.

You cannot sell something that you don’t absolutely believe in yourself, or at least you will find it extremely difficult to do so and all your efforts will result in ultimate failure.

The words coming from our mouths are actually a very small percentage of what is actually being communicated and even the tone of our email ads can scream “Scam” at prospects without us even knowing it.

This has been a fact in all my online dealings and yet it is something that is not easy to explain to newcomers who come online and believe that it is only a matter of “click send” and a ready acceptance of multiple checks in the mail.

Obviously the way around this problem is to promote those products and services that you actually DO believe in. From I have come online I have to say that the companies out there that inspire confidence have been by far in the minority.

Many companies will take your money and run and when you are the type that hands out money hand over fist with no money management skills, it is a welcome surprise to find a company that will actually teach you such skills and allow you to earn as you do.

I myself am a member of such a team and it is a perfect example of something that I truely CAN believe in, and this belief like mentioned above, is exuded to those I come in contact with through email promotions and online ads.

In conclusion, if you are choosing to promote products or services online ensure that they are something that you can honestly pass on to prospective affiliates and feel good in doing so. Your success ulimately depends upon it.

Stop trying to SELL and Start trying to HELP

Thursday 10 May 2007 @ 8:12 am

by: Corey Bachmeier

One fatal flaw that I see when people begin a network marketing business is that their thoughts often focus on two concepts:

Who can I get to join my business?
Who can I get to buy my products?

Right from the start these people come across as being in a defensive and persuasive mode trying to get people to try their products and join their company. I know because when I first started my business I did the same thing! After a while I found that this method simply did not work, so after extensive research and experimenting I made a decision to change my thought process from a selling perspective to a teaching and educating perspective.

What am I teaching and educating you may ask?

I mentor and teach my team and prospects skills such as:

1. How to develop time and financial freedom.
2. How to set goals and achieve them.
3. How to successfully be the CEO of their own business from home.
4. How to become a successful business mentor to others.
5. How to easily spread the word about our company and its products.

You can see how people would be more responsive to what you have to say when they are not being sold something, but rather they are being shown how they will be mentored and helped in building a successful business.

I am going to help you vs. I am going to sell this to you. Which one would you be more comfortable with?

“I have the vehicle for the success of hundreds and thousands of people worldwide
who are looking for something better. I have the ability and tools to educate and mentor people to success that they never dreamed possible.”

Stop trying to persuade people to join your company, teach them how you will help them succeed with their goals, and by doing so, YOU will be on your way to all of your goals!

Unsuccessful in your MLM business?

Monday 30 April 2007 @ 3:21 pm

The MLM business can easily double or triple your cash. Provided that you do not fall first in either one of the common mistakes done by error-prone MLM business producers and distributors.

1. Avoid MLM business groups that offer commission-based compensation among distributors. There is a big possibility that it is an illegal pyramid.

The act of alluring people or business finders to enter an MLM business group has been an ordinary day-to-day street transaction among business-minded people. There are those people who will explain first the benefits that you can get from their group.

But the reality is that they will just reverse what they had said. Believe me, it may not always be the case but beware still. The only assurance you got here is your having a job. But your assurance of getting paid evenly or squarely is diminishing. You can be paid still, but until when?

2. Avoid MLM business groups that oblige the new distributors to buy expensive products or any materials that the group offers. This might be another sign of potential danger.

It always pays to be nice. But some nice people are sometimes not at all nice. It is not always the case.

The truth behind is that there are pyramid groups that force their newly entered distributors to purchase the expensive products or materials. Fake pyramid groups always have at the back of their minds the amount they could get. Sometimes it turns to be something from nothing.

Take this friendly advice; find ways to quit that group.

3. Do not heed what the pyramid promoter is promising that you can have more money through continued help in recruiting more distributors.

This is another clear sign of your being a victim of illegal MLM business. The bottom line here is work with just compensation. They might just be using you for their personal interest.

4. Some distributors do not give enough time or attention to their MLM business.

This is important. Some people are joining the group half-heartedly. But take note, it will count days or months to build an elevating career in MLM.

5. Some MLM operators take the business reluctantly as if its status will not able to decline in time.

Each member of the MLM business group must work hand-in-hand to sustain the set objectives of the group. This practice is not just recommended. It is a must to follow. But doing the otherwise will lead the path towards business failure.

6. Not realizing why you are operating the MLM business.

You may realize suddenly that you do not have a definite target or objective in your business. It might be a reality that some are born as invalid plan setter.

Early from the birth of your MLM business, you should have already realized the reasons why you are driving the business. Recovery from money problems of the business is not like counting 1, 2 and 3. Setting your business objectives is the keyword.

7. Have a well-established commitment to work and duty.

There is no better time to start moving than now. Product distributors must attend to their respective assignments. One cannot make the MLM business grows by just merely looking at it.

Be committed to you work. Have time to pinpoint your MLM business weaknesses so you can catch-up for any committed mistakes.

Network Marketing Internet Business Do’s and Don’ts

Monday 30 April 2007 @ 1:24 pm

by: Jeff Schuman

Why did you start your own network marketing internet business? Most people immediately respond, “for the money!” However, this is not the real reason.

No one subjects them to the hard work of building a business just for little pieces of paper with the faces of dead presidents. The truth is you work in order to obtain what those little pieces of paper can bring you.

The first thing you need to do is to find the reason WHY you are a network marketer. Is it the freedom to choose whatever you want to do whenever you want to do it? Maybe you are looking for a different lifestyle. If there is one thing that is critical to your network marketing internet business success, this is it. If you don’t have a reason, there is no motivation to succeed.

A network marketing business is a teaching and coaching business. If you don’t like interaction with other people, a network marketing business probably is not for you. There’s a concept that most network marketers just can’t seem to get a handle on. You do not sponsor “reps,” you sponsor “people!”

If you have to find a reason why you are building your network marketing business, on the internet then doesn’t it stand to reason that other people will have to do the same thing? If that’s the case, then why is it that network marketers continually focus on how much money your prospect can earn?

There’s no way you are going to convince “Joe Sixpack,” to get out of his Lazyboy recliner unless you find out what his motivation is. Most network marketers literally pound in the amount of money Joe can earn. They bombard him with message after message about how “Successful Sam” has just purchased his 10th Porsche, refurnished his 25,000 square foot cottage and promise Joe that he can do the same!

Just how realistic is this approach? Joe isn’t stupid. He works long, hard hours at his job in order to provide for his family and truly believes that the best thing he can hope for is saving enough money by summer to pay for a camping trip. Then here you come, promising Joe that he can have everything that Sam has and he can have it if he will just sign that piece of paper making you his sponsor!

You will probably sponsor a few people that way, but if you are in business for the long haul you need to change your approach and do it fast.

The proper approach is so simple, but in your rush to sponsor another “rep” instead of helping another person, all too often you talk yourself into and straight out of sponsoring the Joes of the world.

God gave you two ears and one mouth and he did it for a reason. We are supposed to “listen” twice as much as we “speak.”

Instead of pouncing on Joe with the latest and greatest network marketing program of all time, find out what Joe wants and needs. Ask him questions, lots of questions. In fact, in your first meeting with Joe, don’t even mention your business! Yes, that’s what I said. Don’t even bring it up. Remove yourself from the super duper network marketing persona and spend time making a new friend.

Follow these recommendations and you are set to grow your network marketing internet business as large as you want.

Is There Network Marketing Without Hype

Sunday 4 March 2007 @ 3:25 pm

by: Gobala Krishnan

When I was first exposed to network marketing at the age of 23 and introduced to the idea that any average person can take control of their destiny for a better future, I could see new light of hope.

You see, for me, life had to be about making choices, and the lack of that ability so often in my growing years led me to believe that network marketing is the do-or-die answer. Little did I know or expect the amount of hype I was about to get in my first naive year in network marketing, which almost crushed my dreams simply because no one shared the truth with me.

Is hype really necessary in network marketing? I honestly don’t think so.

I hate hype and the very essence of trying to convince someone by using false or misleading words and deliberate interpretation of other people’s words in order to get a sale or make a new MLM recruit. I believe in network marketing, but the hype that so often comes as a pre-packaged MLM “starter kit” almost destroyed what I believed in.

Here’s why I don’t believe hype is necessary in network marketing; because network marketing is not about selling false hopes to anyone. Network marketing is not about selling at all; it’s about building long-term relationships and trust. Network marketing is not about convincing, it’s about sorting.

If you were looking for a business partner, which one would you prefer? Someone who told you the truth, or someone who stretched the truth whenever he can to keep you happy? Sad to say, you may well belong to the first category as I do, but there are hundreds of people out there who actually welcome the hype.

These are the type of people who WANT you to tell them exactly what they want to hear. And what’s that?

They want to hear that they will be able to make money easily without shedding blood and tears. They want to hear that they don’t need to learn any new skills. They want to hear that the product you’re promoting is 100% perfect and that people will be lining up and punching each other to buy it. They want to hear that success is looking for them.

And as long as those people exist, there WILL be hype in network marketing. When there is demand, there is supply, as my economics teacher used to say once. There’s nothing much you or I can do about it. Hype kills network marketing for all those who choose not to walk that path, but it’s something that we have to live with.

I also believe just as there are those who WANT hype, there are also those who want the truth. And what’s that?

The truth is that network marketing is not perfect. No business model is perfect. There’s always a risk that you’ll fail. There’s always a risk that you’ll lose money. There’s always a risk that all those things you don’t want to happen, will happen.

As long as you’re ready to accept that risk, as long as you find someone who is wiling to share the truth with you, and willing to share the risk with you, won’t it be worth it to explore the possibility that network marketing promises?

If you fail in network marketing, a business opportunity that has no fixed costs, low investment, and one of the best cash flows compare to any other business, will your life really be worse off than it was when you didn’t realize YOU had a choice?

Or will you be better off than those who never tried simply because they were too afraid of failure? That’s something to think about.

How Not To Fail In Network Marketing

Saturday 24 February 2007 @ 7:53 am

by: David Pineda

My friend Mike said that, ‘people fail in mlm, network marketing, internet marketing, or home business opportunities for two main reasons.

1. Most people start with a shoe string budget, but since they don’t know how to effectively advertise and promote their businesses, they run out of money without having the opportunity grow and explode their business.

2. They pitch their mlm, network marketing, internet marketing, or home business opportunities to their family, friends, and co-workers. Then they run out of people to talk to, and out of money to advertise.’ That’s a sad scenario.

The key to not fail in mlm, network marketing, internet marketing, or home business opportunities; is to implement a franchise system with a proven marketing strategy that works. Sort of like Mc Donald’s, the casinos in Las Vegas, movie theaters, and others.

For intance, do you think Mc Donald’s is in the hamburger business? How about Las Vegas’ casinos? They advertise, “what happens in Vegas stays in vegas.” Movie theaters, Do you think they could stay in business by merely selling admission tickets?

Let me tell you why Mc Donald’s can afford to sell a burger for a $1 dollar. Because it knows that when you buy that extra slice of cheese, fries, and soda, it will make a huge profit margin on them.

Las Vegas casinos lure you with their entertainment advertising, but they don’t tell you that they want you to lose all your money in gambling which is where the real money is made.

The same with movie theaters, you take your family to watch a movie, and you easily spend $40 bucks in popcorn, sodas, and candies, not including the admission tickets!

Do you see what is going on here? Do you see the marketing strategy at work? If these businesses did not a have a game plan, they would go out of business or they would have a hard time staying in business.

The question that must be popping in your mind by now is, what does that have to do with my mlm, network marketing, internet marketing, or home business opportunity? It has a lot to do with it, if not all of it! The strategy is based on the ABC business model. Once you understand it and apply it to your mlm business, network marketing business, internet marketing business, or home business opportunity__viola! Your business will explode!

What is this ABC business model, and why is it vital to your, mlm business, network marketing business, internet marketing business, or home business opportunity? Let’s just say that part A, part B, and part C, all three parts compliment each other.

Part A is the most important of the three parts, yet most people only use part B and C. Especially if you are advertising your business on a shoe string budget! Do you see now why people fail in business? Can your mlm business, network marketing business, internet marketing business, or home business opportunity survive on parts B and C only? Sure it can, but it will cost you a fortune in advertising, and I guarantee it!

Part A is designed to help you fund your advertising, and generate prospects for your business.

Part B is designed to put quick cash in your pocket to pay bills or to invest to further grow your business, and part C is your long-term residual income.

How does part A help you fund your advertising so you don’t run out of money? Simple. Sell a low cost high volume item that is closely related to your mlm business, network marketing business, internet marketing business, or home business opportunity. Something easy to sell whether you are an expert or not. It could be a nutrition product, a service, or an affiliate program, but it has to be closely related to your mlm business, network marketing business, internet marketing business, or home business opportunity. The reason for doing that, is that it is a lot easier to sell $500 dollars in retail products than it is in building a $500 residual income, do you follow?

Just to give you a perfect example, as a network marketer, would you buy a business that is worth $1,000 to $2,000 dollars without thinking about it,or would you be more inclined to buy an inexpensive book that shows you how to be successfull with that business? If you are like me, you would buy the book and educate yourself first. A book like this would be a retail product that sells easily.

By implementing Part A which will lead to Part B and then to part C, your mlm business, network marketing business, internet marketing business, or home business opportunity will always be up and running, and no longer worried about running out of advertising funds.

Part B in mlm business, network marketing business, internet marketing business, or home business opportunities comes in the form of fast start bonuses aka “bread and butter.” As you continue to implement part A it will not only fund your advertising campaings, but also will generate endless prospects for your business. Remember, Part A has to be closely related to your main business.

Do you see now why part A is so vital for your business?

When you do your advertising, vary your advertising. Do not rely solely on one form of advertising. My wise friend Mario said, “a table can not stand on one leg, (a conventional table) and neither will your mlm business, network marketing business, internet marketing business, or home business opportunity be able survive on one form of advertising alone.

Apply this ABC business model in your mlm business, network marketing business, internet marketing business, or home business opportunity and you will never ever have to worry about running out of money,or failing in this industry again.
